A Memory of My Mom (aka Donna)

Guest poster here! I thought I would share a memory of my Mom since she is away. This memory is totally random and I am not sure why it sticks out in my mind.
It is a memory about asking my Mom if I would be able to do something. I was in high school probably my freshman or sophmore year. I say this because I was asking to go to an event (not sure what) that would require her driving me. She was working at her desk in her bedroom paying bills. The desk was in front of a window, so the lighting was good. I remeber the hard linolium floors found in most military housing. She still has the desk she was working at. When I asked her, she said "I doubt it." So I went away for awhile but could not take not really knowing. So I went back and asked "Does "I doubt it' really mean no, maybe or yes?" She replied "It probably means no." I remember walking away from that answer thinking "Probably?". And I think I knew all along what "I doubt it" meant and asked because I wanted the answer to be yes.
