Thoughts on My Retirement

Saturday, 31 March 2007 7:00 P GMT-06
At year ago today was my last day of working. I have a few thoughts about life as a retired person. I've had a lot more good thoughts about retirement, but those I've listed below pretty much sum up most of them.

Easter Artwork

Friday, 30 March 2007 10:10 A GMT-06
Since Easter will soon be here, I thought I'd post two photos of artwork done by my kids. Amy made the first one in 1980. She was nine years old. Lee made the rabbit in 1980 when he was seven.

Tuesday, 27 March 2007 3:54 P GMT-06
I don't have any photos today, but the roof is complete and the brick has been delivered. Things are moving right along. Woo hoo!! On that note, Elsa sent us an email yesterday. She said that she was talking to our mutual youngest granddaughter. Our

What Shall We Name the Baby?

Friday, 23 March 2007 8:01 A GMT-06
Bill and I had a lot of discussions about what to name our baby. We had a difficult time agreeing, especially on a boy's name. We knew that we wanted to name our children names that wouldn't be shortened. We wanted them to be call by their real names

Boy or Girl?

Monday, 19 March 2007 5:18 P GMT-06
From the beginning, Bill just knew that we would have a girl. He even had bets with some of the guys. He won several bottles of bourbon and a case of beer. A lady that I met at a party said that I was going to have a girl because my face was redder

Having a Baby

Friday, 16 March 2007 7:30 A GMT-06
After we had been married for about a year, my husband and I decided to start a family. It was easy!! Now doesn't that sound funny? Anyway, I got pregnant right away. I wrote in my diary on September 1, 1971: "Found out I was pregnant. Bill won $10

Boom, boom!

Wednesday, 14 March 2007 6:42 A GMT-06
I learned the following song sometime during college. I later "sang" it to my children, and now I sing it to my granddaughters. I've put the word "sang" in quotes because I can't really sing. My children and grandchildren have never complained. I

Some Things I've Learned During 61 Years of Life

Tuesday, 13 March 2007 7:08 A GMT-06
Just by living, you learn things. I don't mean book learning; I mean learning about life. Here is a list of some of those things I've learned. No two people agree completely on two things--how to raise children and how to spend money. Being nice and

Change + Clinched Teeth = Pain

Friday, 9 March 2007 12:00 A GMT-06
Several months after Bill and I were married, I started having pain in my jaw. I went to the doctor, who referred me to the dentist. The dentist ground down the top of some of my teeth to make them more even. (I hope dentists don't do that anymore!)

It's All in Your Head!

Wednesday, 7 March 2007 1:53 A GMT-06
Shortly after I arrived in Germany to marry Bill, we were riding in a car with friends. We passed some sort of fire. I can't remember if it was a bonfire or what. Anyway, we could feel the heat even with the windows closed. I said something like,

Third Photo of Our New House

Tuesday, 6 March 2007 12:00 A GMT-06
Thanks to Elsa I have another photo to post. The plumbing is in, and they are ready to pour the foundation. I hope they do it this week. In the photo is, in Elsa's words, a crackerjack inspector looking it over to make sure everthing was according to

Ceramics

Monday, 5 March 2007 12:00 A GMT-06
When we lived in Baumholder, Germany, I'd go to the craft center. There were all sorts of crafts and activities to do; I did ceramics. Below is a photo of one of the things that I made. The other photo is what I made when we lived in Texas in the

Crazy Names

Friday, 2 March 2007 12:00 A GMT-06
My mom is about 1/32nd Choctaw Indian. I guess to be politically correct I should say American Indian. My dad used to tell us three girls that he was a Walkie Talkie Indian. I don't know where he got that from. He just made it up like he did a lot of
