It's Worse Than Military Grocery Stores

posted Sunday, 1 March 2009

When my husband was in the Army, I never liked to go to the commissary (military grocery store).  It was always so crowded (especially after work and on the weekends), and people were so rude.  After Bill retired and didn't work for a while, he went to the commissary during the day.  That wasn't so bad.  After he got a full-time job, I was stubborn and didn't want the job back again.  He was kind enough to keep it.  He did the grocery shopping until I retired.  I then got the job.  I would go on a Wednesday morning and be there just as it opened.  It was great.  I could whip through that store in no time flat!

Now that we've moved away from Fort Hood, the closest military installation is about 30 to 40 minutes away.  We go together about twice month.  Between those times, we go over to a nearby Wal-mart.  Talk about rudeness and a mad house!  I never thought that I would ever say this, but Wal-mart is so much worse than the commissary!

Since the economic down turn, it does seem to have gotten worse. Walmart is more crowded.
