My Mother Talking on the Telephone

My mother used to talk to her friends on the phone.  Whenever the friend was talking, she would say, “Uh huh.”  One day we decided to see how many times she said it.  So we sat on the floor in the hall where she couldn’t see us with pencil and paper.  We put a little tick mark for every time she said “uh huh.”  I don’t remember how many times she said it.  It was funny at the time, but now I think that it was not very respectful.
