Boom, boom!

I learned the following song sometime during college.  I later "sang" it to my children, and now I sing it to my granddaughters.  I've put the word "sang" in quotes because I can't really sing.  My children and grandchildren have never complained.  I guess they have been too nice to say anything or they don't care that I can't.  According to the Internet, I've been using the wrong words in the verses, but that's okay.

I had a little chick.  She wouldn't lay an egg.
I poured hot water up and down her legs.
The little chick cried, the little chick begged,
The little chick laid a hard-boiled egg!

Now way down South, where nobody goes,
A flea stepped on an elephant's toe.

This last verse, I don't sing to them.
