August Happiness Challenge - Day 9

posted Thursday, 9 August 2007

This post may not appeal to the guys out there, but here goes.  I had my annual mammogram today.  In the rest room was a sign that said, "Why Compression...it reduces the amount of radiation absorbed by the breast, separates overlapping tissue that may 'hide' subtle abnormalities, and helps detect breast cancer in the early stage."  I knew about the second and third things, but didn't know about the radiation.  I'm happy for the medical technology that has been developed to help us live longer and better lives.

We have not passed that subtle line between childhood and adulthood until we move from the passive voice to the active voice--that is, until we have stopped saying, "It got lost," and say, "I lost it."

I had my mammo about 3 weeks ago. I also had my annual exam. I got my test results yesterday and I am all clear for both cancers, cervical and breast. Yes, thank God for modern technology.
