There are Some Places You Shouldn't Color

posted Friday, 13 May 2005
Walker Air Force Base, New Mexico, was my father’s first duty station in 1951.  He went to New Mexico ahead the rest of the family to report for duty and to find a place for us to live.  He wasn’t very successful, but my mom, my sister D, and I finally joined him.  We lived in a motel in Roswell for a while before moving on base.  The only thing that I remember about that motel was the day that I colored the screen door of our room.  I don’t actually remember coloring the screen, but I sure remember scrubbing off the crayons!
