Grade School

posted Friday, 20 May 2005

Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, we didn’t have kindergarten, so my twin sister D and I started school in the first grade.  The principal wanted to put us in two different classrooms, but we didn’t want to be separated.  I guess they took pity on those two scared, skinny little girls and put us in the same class.  After the first grade, we were always in different classes.  During recess, we played dodge ball, tetherball, hopscotch, and jump rope.  We walked back and forth to school.  I remember one day when we were walking home, the wind was blowing so hard that sand was flying everywhere.  The sand would sting our legs, and it was difficult to walk.  My mom came in the car to pick us up.
