I was fortunate enough to have three bridal showers. In June, I went with Sharon and her kids to Wichita to meet other members of Bill's family. While we were there, Bill's sister Shirley gave me a bridal shower. I don't remember very much about that trip, but I felt very welcomed by Bill's sister and the rest of his extended family. In August, I was given a miscellaneous bridal shower by ladies from the Presbyterian Church that I belonged to and a lingerie shower by Sharon; Fern; and a friend, Lynn.
All were really nice showers, and we still have some of the things that we were given--four Pyrex mixing bowls, three hand-woven place mats, a Corning Ware pie plate, a yellow blanket, a silver candy dish, three stainless steel mixing bowls, a Good Housekeeping cookbook, eight glasses (seven are left), a Teflon loaf pan, and a very nice set of waterless cookware. For many years, I had the iron that we received because I hate to iron and avoid it. After 36 years, I don't have any of the lingerie!
I still have alot of the kitchen things I got when I first married. I'll
buy something new to replace it, but i always end up going back to the 40
year old stuff. The old stuff just feels so familar. Lingerie, I like an
old sweat shirt and pj bottoms in the winter. In the summer cotton summer
pjs. No lingerie for me.
